Overview
Wontae Jung began his judicial career in Ulsan in 1989 and served as a judge for 19 years, culminating his career as a Presiding Judge at the Seoul Central District Court in 2008. During his tenure as Presiding Judge at the Seoul Central District Court, he completed the CEO Environmental Forum program at Seoul National University's Graduate School of Environmental Studies and also participated in a six-month visiting program at the University of North Carolina School of Law. While serving as a Presiding Judge in Suwon, Wontae Jung handled corruption cases involving high-ranking public officials in the dedicated anti-corruption division. As the head of the Civil Settlement Division at the Seoul Central District Court, he dealt with cases including celebrity-related damages, defamation claims related to media and publishing, and disputes over the validity of resolutions by the Banpo Apartment Reconstruction Association. In 2005, he led the enforcement team overseeing compulsory execution cases, and during his time as a Presiding Judge at the Seoul Central District Court, he was appointed as an arbitrator on the Media Arbitration Committee and served as the Chief Arbitrator for the Seoul Third Arbitration Division. Since entering private practice, Mr. Jung has primarily handled civil and criminal litigation and also served as an adjunct professor at Hanyang University Law School and as the Legal Director at Booyoung Housing.
